McCay's doomsday-comet farce is as dimwitted as the society it attempts to shame, with nearly every member of the all-star cast having to deliver lines that undercut any edge found in their performances; and only Mark Rylance earning any real laughs.I doubt even Paddy Chayefsky could pull off an insightful and effective sociopolitical satire of the psychotic state of our current media, politics, and culture wars; but McCay (Anchorman, The Big Short, Vice) is certainly not up to the task.
