Lee Daniels, usually reliable to make bold, go-for-broke choices as a director, delivers a scattered yet oddly generic biopic about the great Jazz artist. But singer/songwriter Andra Day, in her first lead role, absolutely transforms into Billy Holliday on stage and off and makes this uneven film a must-see.
