Cloverfield director Matt Reeves’s English-language remake of the excellent Swedish coming-of-age vampire romantic horror movie stars Chloë Grace Moretz in the lead role of Abby, and a supporting cast that includes Elias Koteas, Cara Buono, Richard Jenkins, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as the bullied schoolboy who becomes Abby's boyfriend. A faithful remake that makes a few inventive deviations from Tomas Alfredson and John Ajvide Lindqvist’s original film, but doesn't do enough to justify watching this creative copy when you could just go straight to the pure source.
