This intriguing Turkish coming-of-age film has one very interesting main character and one not very interesting one. The film’s impressive use of locations to provide visual metaphors is striking but the story doesn’t fully come together. Perhaps there is something cultural that I’m missing, but the slice-of-life nature of the narrative gets boring quickly and that is never a good sign in a film that is giving you a window on a place that you don’t know much about.
