Allen’s latest halfhearted trifle follows the rudderless days of an ageing wannabe writer accompanying his publicist wife to a film festival in Spain. Unlike the last few Allen pictures, a couple of the feeble jokes land. Storaro captures the San Sebastian locations beautifully, and Shawn makes a good Woody surrogate—but is he trying to come off as old, shlubby, and dull?
