This bleak but effective period drama set in the London of the swinging 60s is about two teenage girls who are bit too young to swing. The simple and straightforward storyline has a rich subtext with a lot to say about idealism, betrayal, friendship and the lives or women in a rapidly changing society. Still, the film never totally engages despite another thoroughly engrossing performance by Elle Fanning. It’s not Potter’s best but its good.
