Terence Davies dull adaptation of Terence Rattigan’s chamber piece is difficult to connect with. There very little to like about this film unless you are a major fan of Rachel Weisz. I've seen Weisz be terrific live on stage but so far I haven’t liked a single film she’s been in.  Each time a new character enters the film it seems like it is going to get interesting, but all too soon we are left with Weisz’s pained Hester.  Deep Blue Sea tries to be poetic about suffering, but I think it suffers from a lack of poetry.
