The only word for this sentimental buddy/competition movie about male bonding and birding is “soft”.  The premise is soft, the script is soft, the acting is soft, the comedy is soft, and the emotional tone is soft.  The film never engages because of its wall-to-wall voice over and goofy superimposed graphics.  It doesn’t even feel like a film; it is more like watching a board game.
